It is probably shorter coming from picton and if the wind kicks up from the west you can hug the highshore to get out of the wind .

definatly quicker coming from picton, but better fishing from deseronto up to thompsons, fastest would be to put in at Mcfarlins conservation dock and shoot over to thompsons . Happy Fishing

Less than a mile and a half from Shermans Launch. Maybe two-2.5 miles from the Old Church Ramp

opening weekend, expect to find a boat highway, two lanes wide in each direction. not as busy at night, cuts down to 30-40 boats. but its a big area. its wild to watch all the lights at night.

I've done the trip from Deseronto a few times. I can get from Deseronto boat launch to Thompsons in about 15-20 minutes with my 16 footer/40 horse. WIDE OPEN ON A CALM DAY

Watch them SW winds going through Mohawk Bay.

Mcfarlands is a decent launch with lots of parking, and FREE. It can get a bit slippery when it's wet, and it's a bit steep, so hopefully you guys have a decent vehicle. It can be done with 2 wheel drive, but I myself have had problems, and have seen many people with minivans and cars have problems. I have 4 wheel drive now, so I'm good to go. Coming from Picton, it's up Hwy 33 (I believe), towards the Glenora Ferry, just past Merland Park on the same side. The driveway is kinda hard to find, but just look for the signs. As for winds, you're gonna have to wait till it gets a bit closer. Try windguru.com and look at Lake Ontario, Sandbanks.
