With all the beautiful weather and reasonably favorable winds this weekend I put in a fair bit of time on the water considering I worked every day until Mon. A buddy called thurs aft and wanted to do a quick afternoon fish so we headed out and starting hitting lakers pretty much right away in the easterly winds. most in the 10-12lb range, biggest was 16lbs. stingray spoons tight to the ball near bottom was money. couldn't get the divers going. quit at 5pm going 6/7.
Fri Aft I went out solo from 1pm until 6pm with my 12lb/ml set-ups and started right up where we finished off. went 9/12. all lakers again with the exception of 1 screamer I lost I'm assuming was a king. Interesting thing I could only get fish to bite on the probe rigger. wonder if they were attracted to the fishhawk/blinking light. even when I switched lures/depths to the opposite side the probe rigger was the only one firing. I hate taking pics solo but here's one.
Headed out again mon morning. Launched at 615ish and headed out deeper this time looking for kings. I knew there were some cohos around and we found them right away in 160-180. It was a steady pick most of the morning with barbecue size kings/ho's. all fish coming on spoons in the top 50'. about 11am just before we were going to start packing up we picked up a nice 18lb king on the knucklebuster down 70 on a frog pattern big ern. first decent sized fish on a mooching reel for me and it was a blast. came home and started looking at islanders. this could get expensive. ended with 13 or 14 fish.
pretty good weekend
