Quinte Fishing

I note that the Wawa, Thunder Bay area have had a rash of charges, fines publicized on www.thefishingnews.com I applaud this action and encourage any officer, supervisor, member of the public....to support this. It is needed in BOQ......everything is in place to duplicate this success or "beat it". Wonderful to read good news....heaven knows how such a thing is able to happen in the far north of Ont./Canada, yet cannot happen in one of the most well equipped, well connected areas.......hmmmm

Going public is a blessing and a curse for any beaurocrat (there are still lots of "shining knights" waiting to be let loose from the fine balance they operate in; some are union ...some are not). An old codger is happy today.......

Yes, I agree that we see many cases that are brought to light in the western part of Ontario and some cases from the area around Sudbury/North Bay. The fines - I hope act to deter fishers from breaking the law.

It is a rare occasion in Eastern Ontario that we see cases of fishers being caught and charged and the results of these printed in the media.

Makes you wonder?

We can only hope that our local MNR takes a page out of their book....Anglers that respect the rules also need to start reporting abuses to the authorities and perhaps sending a few letters to local papers and OFAH describing violations noticed while fishing.

Also saw the article about a group suing the U.S. Govt. for authorizing the shooting of cormorants to manage the population.....We live in a strange world where so many interests have to be balanced. Me seriously doubts that all groups can win....something has to give.
