Quinte Fishing

has anyone heard of the proposed copper mine in limerick township ?
the implications are not so good for our waterways .

I am aware of graphite (high quality), and am also aware of some type of tailings spill or something that occurred on a trib. to a lake in Tweed. One can see the beware signs, barbed wire, etc. on Hwy 7. east of Marmora.

I am not opposed to mining....I am opposed to abuse by anything or anyone regarding the outdoors. Te jobs would be great for that area if it is an operation that is ahead of the game in terms of envir. awareness, " envir. friendly" mining techniques.

I am no where near qualified to make a judgement about mining practices but the research that has been done on the subject to the present does not present a very likeable picture for environmental issues and any jobs created would be subject to the miners union and it's members . It seems like a lot of long term pain for short term gain and as this area drains into the Trent river and then to the bay of Quinte , hopefully some of the members from here will take an interest and look into it .
