Well school is done for the summer, so its now summer road trip time. This week I will be at home knocking a few things of the Honey Do List, but I am planning a couple days salmon fishing the second week of July. Not sure of exact dates yet, need to find 1 or 2 guys to fill my boat.

I fished Wellington twice last year out at Scotch Bonnett, but have never fished out of Port Hope.

Port Hope is a bit further drive, but I am wondering if it might be a shorter boat ride out to find fish compared to the 10 mile run to the Scotch Bonnett in my 17 foot boat????

Any thoughts????

Any suggestions for an inexpensive place to stay near Wellington or Port Hope, for 2 or 3 guys for a couple nights?

Thanks.

Hope to see a few guys on the water.

JimW

Wellington is on fire right now! Port Hope will be better later into the summer. Just finished a 2 day tourney out of Wellington and everyone caught fish.

I think the whole lake is on fire right now. We have been fishing just west of Port Hope in Newcastle and have been doing vewry well also. The boat ride out of Port Hope is shorter though. Straight out to 70 fow and drop lines. If you decide to head west send me a pm and ill let you know whats been working for us.

Sounds like you guys had some great action on the water. Hopefully there will be some left for me next week. Looks like it will be a couple days out of Wellington for me next week. Just have to find a crew of 1 or 2 and a cheap place to stay. I picked up a pair of wire dipsey rods last week and can't wait to give them a try.

Hopefully see a few guys on the water.

Jim,

Call the chamber at 1800-640-4717 about a place to stay. They often have an idea of availability , but will know the cheapest places for sure .

I dont know if they take 1 night bookings but if they do you have it made. Www.loyalistcottages.com (loyalist cottages on west lake)
