My initial suspicions that the fish wasn't an Atlantic have been confirmed, black gums and clipped fin - a stocked chinook.

Sorry about the intial report - Superdad

Laker John and I hit the big lake after some difficulty getting to the water, the creeks are VERY low!!!!!!!!

Launched and headed for deep water towards Wicked Bank, trolled the edge in 85-90 feet and after an hour or trolling four lures, the rod fired and I was into a fish. As it neared the boat, it began to jump - five times it broke water, we thought Rainbow right away, but as the net slipped under the fish..

The fish was released quickly.

We switched all the lines to the famous and now unavailable Alpena Diamond (Luhr Jensen stopped making them years ago- what a shame)

Trolling around, the wind changed and we went downwind and the rod fired again, Laker John was into a fish. He brought it up and I netted it and it was ours. First - was it coho??? NO, then it had to be a rainbow and it was - a nice 5.5 lber.

The west wind was starting to blow and we called it a day around 1400.

Learned some more about these fish and the area - always a good thing.

Stay Tuned - Grandsons coming for the weekend and some walleye fishing.

David aka Superdad

Glad to see you got out on such a beautiful day. That is one pretty Atlantic!!!! Too bad it wasn't 25 inches. I was just thinking today, just about Walsky time at the Bonnet. Come on cold nights. Thanks for the report and triggering more thoughts for Lake O. Dave
