Hi everyone,

I was up at Kingston-Mills just north of the 401 on Saturday and the dam was open and and feeding into the Cataraqui Creek. Though the Rideau was still iced up on the North side of the locks, it was all open water just below. Would it be too soon for early Pike? It's usally a pretty good spot for Pike...

I just couldn't resist the temptation of casting a spinnerbait for the better part of an hour anyway :)

Keep track of temps for one season and you will have your answer Mike. Very reliable. Remember to practice catch & release.

Thanks Don.
Am keeping an eye on those temps!

I do release about 90-95% of my catch. Most of my barbs have been pinched to minimize injury. I find that Pike in the 3-3.5lb range are excellent for eating and have done well in y-bone removal. My wife no longer discourages me from bring home my catch, seems like she enjoys Pike fillets. :-D

I will actually be aking a couple of fellows pike fishing in the Napanee area on June 11. It should be fun. I would like to try pike again...cannot actually remember the last time.......cool water only of course to ensure better quality.
