Was out to fish on Friday with Grandson and Grandy, trolling at Shermans, the old Church and the Hay Bay north shore (looking for a pike).
We only hit silver perch, yellow perch and a small largemouth - not a good day fishing.
Fished again on Saturday with Great Granddad, my son and the two grandsons, fished over Mallory way and I hit a pair of eyes, we got silver perch and yellow perch. The silver perch seem larger thsi year than in the past.
On the way home, we stopped in Thompsons and I hit another eye - the three were 15,16,17 inches. good for the table.
Sunday, we hit the pumphouse by the pig farm and trolled westward to the weed bed west of the launch ramp at the Old Church and the youngest grandson, William aged 5.75 yrs hit a lovely pair of walleye - 19.0 & 19.5 inches, combined weight was 5.4 lbs, He was thrilled and his older brother was happy also as he had made the lures the fish were caught on.
There is immense satisfaction in catching fish on lures or flies you have made.
We had fun even with the fishing being quite tough - hard to retain attention span sometimes, once the fish arrived, everyone was keen.
We all had fun and enjoyed the fishing - the young guys want to try ice fishing - we'll see how that works out.
Stay Tuned.
