Jarvis Lake

Anyone here have any input on the bass fishing on Jarvis lake ? Also is there a place to launch a fishing kayak ?

Unless you are friends with a cottage owner on the lake there is no public launching.There is a lot of bass big and small,and some nice size musky also.You are talking about the Jarvis lake north west of Madoc?

I used to have a cottage on that lake in the 90's. Were only cottages on the east side of the lake then. Its a small lake that held probably an average bass size of 2.5 lbs..............That was until some nimrod greased enough palms to build a road in from highway 7 on the west side. How permits were ever granted for it will only be known to the sleazebags that granted them. Was an amazing largemouth fishery with pretty much everyone on the lake practicing catch and release. If you caught a smalllie it was normally a monster. The lake also used to hold a few musky. Years ago the little lake also held walleye. Still have friends who have a cottage next to where ours was and he says you have to fish very hard to catch a bass in there now. Back then it was not uncommon to catch and release bass till your arms ached!!! Sad to see the little paradise turn into what it is now.

Thanks for the post , too bad it was a sad one. It's kind of like how I grew up fishing the Moira river on the twin bridge stretch. I lived there so fished it religiously . Carried walleye, smallies, pike and musky of all decent size, now it's Ben fished pretty hard and have noticed a big difference in quality and quantity over the last few yrs. I'm thinking lower water levels along with the renewed popularity of Carleton's Cove has pressured the fishing due to it being a small stretch

Jubes I don't know if you buddy is pulling your leg or not about hard to catch bass,a friend of mine fishes it regularly and catches a ton of bass of all sizes with the odd musky at the one end.
