Next Saturday is the second annual Slam the Lamb Sheephead tournament launching out of Picton. Check out the thread about it launching at Picton. Come out and meet for of the guys from this website, pick up some tips for walleye trolling.

What depth does everyone try to stay in? I see on these posts some guys are useing riggers and fishing 55 to 60 ft, is this hard on the fish?? Are the eyes down deeper this time of year in the colder water? Is this something I should stay away from trying?

Any pointers will help!

The Walleye will be scattered at different depths. Doesn't matter on depth of water, but more so depth of fish. Rule of thumb is no deeper than 30' You can pull them out from deeper with riggers, or leadcore, but the fish have to be reeled in slow so they don't blow their bladder. I think most most people use 30' running cranks (TD11's, Reef Runner 800) on planer boards/flatline, and will keep you on the safe side. It can be done though.
