Spoon fed Walleye

I've watched videos and read articles on how trolling with spoons can be very effective on open water walleye. Lake Erie, Lake Ontario etc... Has anybody tried this technique for the Quinte Fall Run?? I have a cottage booked at Merland Park Nov 22-25, and think I might give it a try. I'm already stocked up with TD 11's, Reef Runners, Deep Huskys etc... but wouldn't mind adding a few more lures to the arsenal. If anybody has any info on spoons for Walleye, (make, size etc..) it would be greatly appreciated.

I've not tried trolling spoons for walleye, but a buddy of mine picked up a 7lbr on St Lawrence this weekend trolling a big silver/gold williams wobbler for pike, so I'd say it's worth a shot.

Also, not sure of trolling speed. Do spoons require a certain speed for action??

Yep, but most will work at anything above a drift. Just check the action at the side of the boat before you let them out.

Thinking of going to Hay Bay this week end. Is it to early for walleye fishing? Thanks.

It's never too early for Walleye fishing. Unless the season is closed!!!! Walleye can be caught anytime of the season. Different techniques, at different times of the year.

For Lake Erie walleye I usually run spoons on 4 or 5 of my 6 rod spread off the riggers or dipseys.

On Quinte I usually run 1 or 2 rods with spoons off dipseys, two years ago spoons caught some decent fish for me, including a 12+ pounder. Last year my luck was terrible, nothing was working for me.

Thanks guys. I only fish for Walleye and Bass, so I've never used spoons before. I don't know much about them. Is there a certain size, or name brand typically used for Walleye?? Also, I was thinking of using snap weights instead of dipseys to get them down. Would this work?

Pick up a chartruse Lucky Strike Warden's Worry. It is a five of diamonds sort of pattern.

This is by far my best walleye producing spoon.

On Lake Erie Silver Streak or KnockOut spoons work fine for me. Gold or copper backs outproduce silver at least 3 to one. Overcast or sunny makes little difference.
Trolling speeds of 2-3.5 mph.
Popular colours are, green monkey puke, wonderbread, greasy chicken wing & mixed veggies to name a few.
Not sure on how these will produce on Quinte.
Riggers, leadcore & dipseys all used.

What size they are? I have similar colors for salmon trolling but I affraid they are too big for walley. I'm going to BOQ this weekend. If I get size information I may try them out also. And I will report results.
