Quinte Fishing

Hey everyone,

Just wondering how the launch is (if anyone has launched there this week)? We launched there on Saturday and it was dicey to say the least and after reading about how the water has seemed to drop even more since than I'm wondering how usable it is?! My brother has a 20 foot deep V hull and I'm wondering if we should try the ferry launch or take the extra time and head to the Picton launch?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

Saw some smaller trailers there on Wed. I wont take the chance with my boat and drive to Picton.

Hey Andrew, not sure about the ferry launch but if it is anywhere close to Finkle's launch you may as well just go to the Picton launch. Finkle's was horrible. I had to drop off the end of the dock to get on the boat but getting off the boat and back onto the dock was even worse. We were out yesterday afternoon and went 0-2. The first was on a rigger with a spoon. And the second was in 150' of water. It was a good fish but only had it on for 10 seconds or so. Both fish were within 10minutes of each other. We started at the Gap and trolled to the Bat Cave. Marked lots of fish in the 40-70' range. When we turned around we decided to put the spoon on the rigger. Anyways like I said we had one bite on the spoon. Rob saw the rod bouncing but never actually had the fish on so I guess we really went 0-1. Good luck out there today.

Thanks for the info. We ended up launching at the ferry (went before anyone got a chance to reply) and it was tough but we did it (might head to picton today). We also went 0 for 2 same deal, one tripped the rigger but no hook up and another made a good tug on one of the boards but again no hook up (so maybe 0 for 0 I guess). We ran to the gap and then trolled the whole south shore. Marked a bunch as usual but no takers no matter what we through out there (minus the two that tried to hit). Hoping today goes better.

PS water temp was about 57-58 for those wondering.
