Well looks like my first entry in the MNR survey is BIG X in the "no fish caught" column.
Friend and I got in from Seeleys bay at about 9. Launched at the ferry. Launch was actually quite good compared to what I had heard. Mind you i'm only launching a 16'. Started trolling at the fisheries unit and trolled all the way to the bat cave. Marked some fish but I wouldn't say the screen was full. Only catch for the day was the two times the cannon balls caught the commercial fishing nets. Man do those things need to be better marked! Next time i'm bringing the machete to cut the F#@ker in half! Anyway, got off the water@6:30. No hits. Threw everything we had at em. TD9,,TD11's, floating raps, worm harness, rebel minnows etc. On boards and down riggers. Fished from 10 to 40 ft. Loads of other boasts out. Didn't see a single fish caught. Water temp was 56-57 deg.
Bob :x

Thanks for the details Bobber. Yeah, those nets can be a real PITA, although I've not tangled up in one yet. If you were on the south side of the reach those may have been MNR nets, and yes they do need better markers. Try a spoon next time your out, unconventional, but I've tried all the standard baits in my last 3 trips and the only producer was a gold/yellow NK spoon on a dipsy/rigger down 35-40 feet.

A landmark. It's just east of of the white crows nest and west of big jim's country jamboree and flapjack emporium, 10-4, over and out.

I often wondered the same thing when reading these reports, then I came across it earlier this fall. The bat cave is a boat house on the south shore of adolphus reach as you head out towards the main lake. Apparently, the guy that built it blasted a hole into the rock and built his boat house there. You will know when you see it.

Thanks for sharing your fishing with us - we have a couple entries in our MNR log with 'no fish caught or kept'

Still trying
