After spending the last couple days on the bay, I have learned that there is no reason to hit the panic button. Its still early. The majority of the fish are not in yet. It looks like the gizzard shad are just now here in huge numbers. Walleye will follow them in when they realize their food source has moved. It could be unbelieveable in a week or so. I took time to look through our log book from previous years. success vs water temp indicates its almost showtime. We were able to catch fish but not in big numbers. Our largest was 31 and 7/8 inches long and weighed only 9 lbs. What do you fellas think?

Well, with it weighing that much, sounds like their food supply has moved on them and hopefully they will follow soon. Looks pretty beaten up too. Thanks for your encouraging post. Dave

We were on the Picton side of the ferry last night and trolled through a school of gizzard shad, could have used a dip net like you do on smelts. There were thousands, guess I know why they weren’t taking our plastic presentations…lol

I agree Mike. Think it's still a bit early. It's not cold enough yet. Last year I stayed at Merland Park roughly November 9-12 and only managed 3 fish in 2.5 days. This year I booked my trip down a couple of weeks later... November 22-25. Hopefully my luck will be a bit better this year. That East wind on Saturday probably didn't help either.

Big Al my buddy whom is a professional walleye angler was out last week for five days and only managed couple fish that's gotta say something. I understand you get out on a bad day and things don't go to plan, but when your out multiple days that's fishy.

They will come as they did last year. But from years past it sems to be later and later. In the past they were sometimes there on the Canadain Thanksgiving? :?:

Last year on Nov 11 & 12, we did really well. I blew last year in the 12th of Nov and it was a scary day on the water, the Nov 12th of 2012 was as windy as 2011.

I was out by the Generating Station south of the Gap and the waves were incredible, the waves breaking on the shore was something to behold and be thankful we weren't out there trying to fish.

We know they're coming - lookout this weekend!!!!!!
