I haven't used that one, but we sell the MarCum and Vexilar versions and they work very well. One tip I would give is to use a little water or melted snow on top of the ice. That wil help it shoot through the ice much better. That is assuming you plan to use it on the ice. If its just in the boat or off docks then it should work quite well just holding it in the water.

I was looking at the Showdown Troller, but wasnt sure if it shows your bait the same as the higher end models or not. I am going to be at Bass Pro on Sunday and will be asking their thoughts on the unit.

Yes it will shoot through ice. If there are no air bubbles in the ice it will work very well. If there are air bubbles it may not work as well.

Clear off the snow, pour a little water on the ice, put the transducer on water you poured, and it should give you a depth reading. Pouring water on the ice is key because it essentially seals the transducer to the ice and doesn't allow any air to get between the ice and transducer. If you have air between them you won't get a reading.

Yes it will show your bait and fish like a traditional flasher...just in a more compact, handheld version.
