Quinte Fishing

I am hoping some of the bass fishermen on here can give me some advice on a 2 piece baitcasting rod. A couple options that have stood out to me are the:

Rapala Shift - 6'8"
Abu Garcia Veritas - 6'6"

Has anyone used these rods or have a different 2 piece casting rod they can recommend. I primarily want it for casting jerk baits and casting soft plastics with 20-30 pound braid on a Curado Reel.

I use Shimano almost exclusively, however I have had the chance to use the Veritas and I will say........its one nice rod for that price point (~100$). Super light and an awesome reel seat which you will really like.

Why 2-piece? I only ask because the 6'6" M-F may be a little whippy. In 1-piece you have more options in the Abu lineup.

I definitely agree that 6'6" makes a good jerk bait rod.

MattClapp - I have always used a one piece but it runs the length of my car and is a hassle transporting. I do some interior camping and canoe/kayak fishing so a two piece would make that easier. If I can get a 2 piece for less then 100$ then I may buy a one piece as well.

Abu Garcia Vendetta, no question unbeatable in the under $100 price range.

Hitchin- If your looking for a serious leave in the car, so i always have a rod with me, look at telescopic rod. i have one that is always in my car
They make very good telescopic rods these days, mines a 7"4, matched with quantum Catalyst-PTi, its cast's a mile

I had the 6'10 Veritas 2 pc for about 2 weeks!, Hated it. Ended up with a 6'10 Shimano Compre 2pc for around the same price.
Love this rod. To me, night and day differance.

if your looking to spoil yourself???? try a ST. CROIX Great rods and a great warranty

This summer, I turned two single piece 7 ft G. Loomis bait-casting rods into four pieces of garbage. In this case, I wish they were originally two pieces.

Some things shifted in the box of my truck and took off 6 inches of each rod.

Tried the warranty route, but the rods were 10 yrs plus in age.

Yes, they are warranty for life. Only covers damage under normal use or manufacturers defects.

Don't tell my wife they were $250 rods. lol

Stay away from the Rapala Shift's, I have a 7' that the guides are all cracking the finish on the rod and are ready to fall off. Got the rod cheap so i dont care but i would never buy one again cheap or not. The 2 St. Croix rod's that i have are great !
