After getting new trailer rims and tires decided to take 23 yr. old "Sylvie" on her first road trip of the year.
She likes walleye.
Had my older brother along for his first fall trip to BOQ, this is my second fall and was unsuccessful getting a yak eye this year.
We get to the "Fairy" launch at about 7:30 am and its dessertted and see no other boats out and it's rough, we're umming and arring whether to go out or not. Then there's a boat and another shows up at the launch. Let's go ! I kill the battery trying to start Sylvie and realize its 8 years old. Off to Picton we go for a new battery. We get on the water at about 10:00 am, mark some fish and work the area.
We were kidding about the boards, saying "Flag Up ! ( ice fishing haha ) and then one flips over.
Reel it in I say, fish-on.
10 lb 5 oz Walter
We go back to the truck for a brief drying session, head back out and then Bro yells, he's hooked a fish on the long line ( got to love it when you can feel the hit and set the hook )
. I grab the rod from his hands
and reel this in ( It was my turn and hadn't reeled in a fall eye yet).
11 lb 3 oz
It was a bit peculiar, the fish from the 20 foot lure took a while to revive as it's bladder was out some,
and the one from about 40 feet took off quick.
Was a reel memorable day !
