We have a bunch of guys coming down May 21st for a trip at Bayview resort. They are on Hay Bay so I am curious to where we would fish in the bay, we plan to mainly troll with lures (rapala) should we consider Minnows?. Is night fishing good at this time of the year in this bay. Also how far is it from Picton if we decide to go in there through the day we are all coming by bus so no transportation we are hoping we can call a taxi do we have to go over the ferry to get to hay bay coming from Whitby Ontario. thanks

Where you are I would suggest going up into the eastern end of Hay Bay in the area known as the flats. You will most likely see a quite a few boats and its usually good fishing for 2-3 pound fish. Its about 10-15 feet deep all over that area.I have never tried minnows but spinners with a single hook and a worm have worked well trolling or drifting. Yellows and flourescents are good colours. Picton is about 15 miles by water from where you are but Napanee is closer and easier by taxi. Hope this helps
