Hey guys I picked up a new to me boat this fall and I am trying to maybe get a little history on it :)

What it is, and what I know about it: Name "Reel Distraction"

1992 Stratos 2250 Walkaround, OMC Cobra 350 and Cobra drive, Factory hard top. It was purchased new from Bay Marine in Belleville ON. Shows evidence of having downriggers and other salmon fishing gear installed at one point or another.

What I was told by the seller:

It was bought new in Belleville and then sold to another owner in the GTA that used it for Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. It was then sold to another person who overheated the motor and had it rebuilt. That person could not afford to pay the rebuild costs and it was signed over to the marine mechanic that performed the rebuild to cover the bill. That is where the person I purchased it from got it. Long story about bartering and trading and I ended up with it. The hour meter shows 1400+hrs yet has 175-180PSi compression across all cylinders and runs like a champ, which makes me believe the rebuild part of the story.

I guess I am just putting this out there to see if anybody knows the boat and maybe a little history about it :) My email is weese3@hotmail.com

Here are a few pics. If they work I will start with when I first picked it up.

Thanks

Adam

I'd look at getting a 15hp, kicker/ trolling motor for her, but I would think it's a sweet hull with a few more Kings left in her

its is a great looking boat, a kicker would be a great addition. Congrats
Reasons

1. save on fuel on the main motor.
2. Safety: you will always have a back up to limp in on if something happens.
3. It isnt good for a main motor to run at such a low idle for long periods of time

Hi Adam. Nice Boat my friend and she should handle well for you. I would suggest you try and get a message to Al. AKA TrannyMan he is the president of CLOSA and he does a pile of salmon fishing and knows a ton of the guys and there rigs. Also Scott from West Lake Willows may know this boat as he two does allot of salmon fishing. If anyone around would know this boat i think it would be these guys. Good luck on your search... Fred

Will Service Ontario not give you a history report if you take proof of ownership in ?

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I already have a 15hp 4 stroke sitting on the stand in the garage waiting for spring :-) I asked the girl at Service Canada about a history report on the boat and she looked at me like I was from the moon, so I left it at that. I will give Al and Scott a try if they don't stumble onto this thread first.

QuintePrince-My wife always wanted to know what I needed such a big truck for, so I went and got a boat big enough I need the diesel truck to tow it :D

Very cool boat indeed. Congratulations and may many fish grace it's deck with their presence.

I vaguely recognize the name but I don't recognize the boat or know anything about it. Al, may as he has more experience the I do on the big lake.

Scott

Thanks Scott :-) Spring can't get here fast enough. Its gonna be a little more comfortable for us out at the Bonnet in this boat over the Princecraft Starfish we've been using. lol

I have seen here on the water 3 or 4 years ago but can't remember where. I am almost thinking St. Catharines.

If it's from down the West end, try posting your question on Spoonpullers.ca or the Niagara fishing network...I'm sure somebody will recongnize it.

Hey guys just a quick update on the boat.. This summer while buffing it I could clearly see the boats old name. It was once named "Tight Lines" if that rings a bell with anybody?

Thanks

Adam
