I am not much of an opening day fan (too crowded), but have many friends and associates that will be out there.
As a general rule, a cold spring means a slow opener, and a warm spring means a more active one. The cooler weather seems to hold some of the bigger fish back, making the catch poorer....but none the less interesting given increased opps. at bigger fish. These are just my opinions and observations.
My own opening day (any species) always includes (usually) a very priveate outing to a more priveate locale (even on BOQ....I pick my times and shoals carefully). I do this simply as a crowds and odds preference. If my trip involves some sort of adventure (eg. backpacking, canoeing, Mtn biking, ....anything with a twist.....all the better).
Just my two cents. Good luck
Don Stokes
I will be slaving away at some small BC Mtn. lake...with rainbows being the word for the day.
