Was working in the backyard today, and happened to look into the water.

Saw 2 muskie, swimming side-by-side in about 12 inches of water. One was about 36 inches, the other slightly smaller. Every couple of fin strokes, the smaller (male?) would turn onto it's side, bottom facing the larger (female?), showing it's stripes, NOT spots (pike). I assume that they were spawning.

I've seen many fish off my back deck in Rossmore (I'm kinda ON the water), Walleye spawning in the spring, Pike, Bass, Sheephead, lotsa Carp, once a rainbow, etc, but this is my first time seeing Muskie.

I've hear that they are around, but haven't seen them 'til today.

Lots of suprises in the bay! :!:

Your observation is a rare treat imo. I have only seen them spawn once (just a fleeting glimpse), in my grandfathers boathouse in Bolsover, Ont.
My late father spoke of seeing musky in BOQ and I am certainly aware that they are there.....but like yourself I have never seen them. You are lucky.

Don Stokes

Perhaps Tiger Muskie, with the stripes?? I don't know, are there Tiger Muskie in there?
