Fishing Worm Harnesses

Just wondering if anyone would like to inform how to rig a worm harness. I don't understand how you are to keep it from dragging bottom if dragged behind a sinker on a lead ????

I have really only fishing artificals for walleye (jigs and cranks mainly) with moderate success, and would like to delve into fishing live bait a little more. I understand the rigging of a worm rig, using either a floating jig head on a lead with a walking sinker or blowing the worm up a bit. I know this sounds "green" to most (probably lyao!), but you have all been a great help to others in the past and I am hoping for the same !

I HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS USING A FLOATING WORM HARNESS.PUT A LARGE SPLIT SHOT AT THE TOP OF THE HARNESS NEAR THE CLIP.THEN PUT THE WORM ON.THIS WILL WORK FOR TROLLING OR FOR DRIFTING WITH A LITTLE CHOP ON THE WATER .IT WORKS GOOD JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WEED LINES . GOOD LUCK

There are also styrofoam pieces that ypou place on the harness[hole in centre]. This helps keep it riding high....Larry

Another excellent technique is to get a syringe/worm bloater and infate the worm. Add your sinker up your line to set the distance for your bait - off the bottom and presto, a big fat squiming worm floating exactly where you want it to.

When hooking the worm hook the worm (entire worm) once about 1" from the end, add a stinger hook to your line (I like to use a small trebble hook as a stinger) and add 1 of the trebble hooks into the other end. Bloat away!
