Hi all.

I just bought my first boat last month, and have wanted to go to BoQ ever since.

I have a 17.5 foot w/ a 50 hp, so its big enough to get around, but not huge.

I know this is kinda a lot to ask but, can anyone give me some basic direction as to where i should go to catch some walleye, and how to do it.

I'm not sure where to launch out of. I hear all different places being mentioned, but they are all chinese to me! I've fished out of Bayview? park. We used worm rigs, those Uziks i see everyone talk about. They sold them at the park. We just went right, till it opened up, past some islands, and trolled slowly. But i wasn't the captain, and didn't pay much attention to what was going on, i was just the guest.

So if anyone could give me some basic direction as to where i should launch from, directions to get there, and some very basic pointers as to how i might come across some walleye, i'd be GREATLY appreciative.

I'd consider staying at the same park as i stayed before, but i'd like to try a one day trip first...

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Hi Steve
It sounds like you have a similar rig to what i have. It works very well in the area.
I would be trolling in the area west of Ram Island from the marker.
The "flats" area as it's known is shallow, average depth probably 8-10 feet.
many people have been trolling in the area of the large boat house near huffman's island[you can't miss it-the size of a small aircraft hanger!] Since it is shallow you probably won't mark many fish on fish finder, they are scattered through out the area. Give 'em a try...Larry

Steve,

If you were staying at Bayview Resort, then the message from Hay Bay Larry will do you well.

You want to fish for a day, there are two laucnh ramps on the north shore of Hay Bay and one on the south shore.

Either launch ramp will put in the vicinity of fishable spots.

The launch ramp at the east end of Hay BAy will put you right one the Flats as HBL described. If you launch at Shermans Launch, then you're closer to Shermans PT and Thompson Pt but if you go east you'll find Ram Is, where HBL described.

RSVP off line if you wish.
