I just received this e-mail:

Please be advised that on Tuesday June 11, 2013, the Town of Greater Napanee will be hosting a Public Open House to discuss the draft Discharge of Firearms By-law. The meeting will start at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers located at 124 John Street, Napanee, Ontario.

A representative from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) will be attending the meeting. We would appreciate, and welcome any OFAH member, or fellow hunters who would be able to attend the meeting to voice their opinion. If we do not show enough support at this meeting, it could result in an expanded area where the discharge of firearms will be prohibited, which obviously means a loss of hunting and recreational shooting opportunities.

It is extremely important for all fellow hunters and recreational shooters to attend this Public Open House.

If you are unable, but would still like and have your voice heard, please send an email to Ms. Susan Beckel (sbeckel@greaternapanee.com). The OFAH would also respectfully ask that you copy OFAH head office on your email at brian_mcrae@ofah.org.

You folks up there better take this seriously. If the mayor the other week had not stopped the attempt by others there would have been a large area up there where shooting and hunting would have been banned.

This has started by cityfolk being scared of duck hunters on the river.

Pay attention or your going to get screwed.

And I live in Burlington by the way, but have a trailer in Shannonville.

If it is about duck hunters on the water please let the MNR know about this. ONLY the MNR can prohibit hunting on the water not the town. The town of Belle River (near Windsor) tried to pull this stunt several years ago an MNR CO was informed about it. He showed up in civilian clothes waited till they were about ready to approve the ban and then showed his badge and informed the town they were breaking the law and if they tried it they would be charged. It was actually kind of funny. now the town and township has Sunday hunting go figure.
