Well this morning I was able to cement a pretty solid memory with my Dad. While visiting my parents with my Wife and two little girls was able to get a great fish in this morning. Dad woke me up at 6 with a sparkle in his eye, no rain. we quickly and quietly got ready to go. As we loaded up Dad informed me that he looked at the radar and figured we could sneak a couple hours in. 30 mins into our fish he informed me that he had a "good" one. As I began to reel up I could see a gold glow coming up. I grabbed the net and in a perfectly timed duet we landed his personal best. A beautiful 27" 5 lb 10 oz Walter! Biggest fish our group has ever pulled from East Lake. I will post some pictures once I get them loaded up, but man what a memory to see that look on his face! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the Father's out there. I know I enjoyed mine with Dad!

Cheers, Tyler

Congrats on the PB.....

That's a good size walleye from East Lake.

Fishing with your Father is also a very cool thing.

That is a nice one. I pretty much grew up fishing that lake, have caught a couple of 10 lbs in there but not too common. Last 10 lber was probably 10 yrs ago. Have seen quite a few 9-12 lbers over the years as well but those were when I would go out with my grandfather and lift hoop nets with him. The big ones use to come in through the outlet and spawn in eastlake and head back out to the big lake after the spawn. I don't know how often that occurs now because of the water levels and the depth at the mouth of the outlet now days.

East Lake will be a hidden hot spot this season because:

A) Outlet river didn't really connect with big lake this spring and some lunkers couldn't find their way out. I know of a six, an eight and a nine pounder being caught in the river in a couple of weeks after the opener.

B) low fishing pressure. Not an easy lake to get on.

Thanks, ya I have been fishing there for over 20 years. Early spring Dad said that the outlet was open, it has since closed up and figures that is the reason. He has been fishing East Lake for over 40 years and says as a kid that was common place to catch fish like that. But it was fantastic to get out fishing with him as it has been quite some time due to family commitments. Still trying to post a picture, lol.

We still have a cottage on that lake. What a great bass lake. Not too many lunkers there, but very easy to get large numbers of bass there. Last year my Step dad caught a 5.03 bass out in front of the old canning factory. Best lake to take kids fishing on in my opinion.
