Hello! Guys - looking for some advise on getting to the salmon/trout on Lake Ontario. Since getting a cottage on Hay Bay and having the boat there - need some help on where to launch and where to look for them. We have always launched from Newcastle and always did well but since this will be the first season on Hay Bay have no idea where to go. Help!!! Please!!! :)

Lots of people head out to Wellington and fish the area around Scotch Bonet for salmon and trout. Main Duck is another option, both are a good drive from Hay Bay though

If you're talking close by Hay Bay, the gap in the early spring for lake trout would be a good bet. Depending on your boat, you could trailer to Wellington and launch from there. See Dan's sticky at the top for launches. Salmon are typically in the Wellington area around the end of June.
Search the site, there's been many threads on here about both areas.

Thanks guys for the info. - definitely will trailer the boat if we decide to go. It has been about two years since I was on the salmon and the scream for the reel is calling  Plus the inlaws will be visiting the first week of July from south of the border and I don't think they know the power of the salmon and would like to introduce them to it. Thanks
