I headed out this am to try for some Rainbows on the big lake off Hyucks point but once again the wind forecast was Bull%#$. So I ended up launching off 33 HWY at the dam. Its quite a paddle up stream at first there. A wrong turn would suck.

Then paddling through 2kms of reeds and lilly pads to get to Consicon Lake. I'm sure there must be a better way to get on the lake. It was tough going. Although the wind was at my back so That was ok. I tried fishing for Bass on the way. That place looks like Bass heaven. No takers though.

I made it to the main lake and setup trolling a variety of cranks and depths. I'm not sure what kinds of fish are in the lake but I was marking fish from 15 - 40 ft and huge balls I would have to assume are bait as well. I made it half way up the lake and the wind was starting to whip pretty good so I turned around knowing it would be a long paddle back. On the way back I decided to try a blue and chrome TDD9 as I was marking fish often at 20ft.

This guy nailed the Rapala hard. What a fight. Had I been in a big boat he would have stripped my line as I had alot out while trolling. In the kayak it just turned me around and i was reeling the kayak to him more than him to the kayak. I tried to weigh him but he was too long. The scale read 9lbs and part of him was still in the water. I'd say 10-12lbs. My biggest Pike so far.

It was a long tiring battle back against the wind in my short yak. I've never been so glad to paddle towards a Extreme danger sign :)

What a great report! and thank you for sharing it!

There is a better way to get onto the lake... and it is kayak friendly. It is a bit of a walk though PM if you want further details. I found this not so secret access in my travels, Very easy to put in and take out.

That place was real good for bass few years ago, seemed to have slowed down pretty good. Perhaps there are too many of those Big Gators in there now. gotta give it another try this year though. Nice catch.

Nice lake limited access. Weed beds and 40ft depths. I think there's Walleye I'm not sure how many. Big Pike though and bass.
