Was talking to a few folks around pickerel park and heard mallory has been coughing up some good sized eyes up to 4-5 lbs but not from trolling. Its been a bucktail jig bite out off the weeds in about 13-16 ft of water. Folks who are on to it have been getting 4-5 fish while the trollers work around them are getting a few but much smaller size. fyi

Bucktail jigs work great for Walleye especially when the water warms up and the fish are in the weeds. I use them spring, summer and fall. I hardly ever troll anymore since I started using them a couple of years ago. Work the outside edges of the weedline, and if they're not there, move right into the weeds. You will probably catch bass when you move into the weeds too.

I took this technique out to big bay the other night after Dan's post, figuring i never really tried the Rice Lake technique in the Bay... i hit Minnie Blakely, Big Island shoal and Big Island Shore... only 3 bass to show, mind you big bass, no walleyes... could be that they just aren't there. Has anyone had any luck Big Bay area ? I might try the rip jig again if they are confirmed there.

I fished big bay a few times last week with nothing but bass to show. Tried Erie deries <sp?> and worm harness/bottom bouncers. The big bay bite has sucked the last 2 years for me at least.
