Hi guys, as I find this site loaded with great and useful info, I was wondering if anyone could answer the question below.
With respect to inline planer boards, it seems whatever lure I run behind the board it drags the back of the board down at lifts the front out of the water. I do sometimes run 30 ft td's and always thought it was the drag on lure pulling it down. However it also seems to happen on the 7 and 12 foot shallow runners. Can anyone shed some light as to what I may be doing wrong or is this normal. I usually run lure 25-50 ft back of the board and use both mono and lead ( I understand the lead would cause drag but am more interested in why the mono is giving me a problem).

Could be because your running such a short lead behind your board???? I'm usually running 150-200 ft behind the board

We run those churches walleye boards in lake O with ten colour lead flasher and a fly. They get a little bogged dowb but other then that run pretty good for such a small board !!!

Thanks guys. Never thought the length of lead from lure to board would make a difference. I will definitely try a longer lead to see if that corrects problem.

If the lead weight is moved to the front most position, take the rear screw out, slide the weight forward and drill a new hole for the rear screw.
Cheers Rob

To get the maximum depth out of your lure, you would need anywhere from 100-200 feet of line behind the board, depending on the lure. (based on 10 pound mono or equivelant diameter line) If using heavier line, you need to let more line out. A 30 foot Tail Dancer will only dive about 18 feet with 50 feet of line out, and less with 25 feet of line out.
Not sure if this will solve your problem with the planer boards, but might help you get your lures in the Strike Zone!!!

I had the same problem this worked for me.
If the lead weight is moved to the front most position, take the rear screw out, slide the weight forward and drill a new hole for the rear screw.
