At one time I did an outdoor column, with an annual thing being the "Salute to Those That Give a Hoot". I miss doing that, (busy with work and I like being a freelance/independent), but the jist of it was giving credit, brief descriptions of some of the great outdoor projects that are in the area....yet we never get to hear about. Here are a couple more that come to mind (unsure of their status). The Napanee Springside Hatchery and the gentleman rearing walleye on Tyendinega, that has been mentioned deserve more credit, but here are a couple of extra's that I am aware of....and one item that is not.
Wareing Creek- stream rehab of a former coolwater stream in Prince Edward County
Salmon Enhancement- another group has had an open cage system for rearing salmon in Prince Edward County....neat stuff
Quinte Conservation has done some BOQ work, and will hopefully continue to take a lead, proactive role.
Wilton Creek- fencing has begun (in my opinion) to begin to slowly transform this creek into something much better, healthier. All people need to begin to think about what they are doing and how it affects people....downstream. Historically....you would be shocked at what used to be in Wilton Creek.....upper headwaters.

All of these are very interesting to see some nice local examples.
The one item that I have not seen to the best of my knowledge is any shoal, sediment work. Coupled with encouraging more cottage/home owners on BOQ, to have a shoreline that is better for the fish let alone everything else that lives in the area. Of course these all would require work with a designated agency to ensure that it was well thought out, needed. Sorry for the quick note....
