We've been duck hunting off the south shore of Amherst and it occurred to me that I ought to drop a line while we're out there. But I haven't a clue what might be out there (pickerel, bass, walleye, salmon, trout, none of the above), so no clue what to tie on the end of the line. We're just anchored up, so trolling's out. Just vertical jigging in very clear water. I'm using a 1/4 chartreuse and white bucktail jig. Might try a spoon on the next go. Maybe a drop shot rig? Any suggestions for what to try while the other guys are shooting off the back of the boat? Am I better off just taking a nap instead?

We're usually in 20-50 fow over rocky bottom and clear water.

And I realize lakers are closed for another week and a half. ;)

Well, I guess I did have a clue. Caught my by-far PB smallie today while the guys shot their limit of squaw. Drop shot minnow in 27 FOW.

No scale. I wasn't counting on catching anything, so just pictures.
