There in!!!

My brother was out last weekend and picked up a 24, 19 and a 20 - all Chinook. A good friend of mine that runs charter's was out last Wed. and picked up 15 Chinook. Only 4 were under 20 the rest all over!
All of my friend fish were taken on cut bait. My brother picked his using various spoons. I will be out fishing this Friday and Sat. and will post my results on Monday.

Good fishing,

CC Lad.

Right now right at Scotch Bonnet approximately 9 miles from Wellington and Salmon Point North and South side. North side approximately 5 miles. Most of the fellows are going to Scotch Bonnet early in the morning while Lake is flat. If winds pick up ride the waves back to Wellingon, Salmon Point is closer but often the wave will get you on the side as Salmon Point is directly south of Wellington. Veteran fisherman are coming in stating this the best Salmon fishing they have seen in years.

Thanks for the info, traveller and CC Lad. My boat is "smallish" and I may be able to put in Near East Lake or Point Petre. I'll recon this Saturday. I would not cherish a 9 mile run. Will watch the weather channel. I'm assuming that the fish will remain in this are for a week or so more?

Thanks Again !!!

First thing, get a chart. Take your new chart and draw range lines for quik reference. If your going to use riggers you got to know where you are, and in a smaller boat keep a pare of sidecutters handy in case you have to cut the cable.

This time of year you should be able to find fish about five miles out of Wellington, fish from 60 to100 feet. Mcfaul shoal is seven miles out.

try flatlining a deep runnig fish stick and maybe a blue and white spoon for the bows.

Count on the wind blowing hard from the west by noon.

Made it out Sat. (Fishing around Scotch Bonnet) for about 8 hours of fishing and only managed 3 Chinook, 12 - 8 - and a shaker. All three fish were taken with a Rack "blue berry muffin" spoon (number 34 I think) down 105 and 115 feet of chain over 150.

Sunday proved much better for results. We fished for only 4 hour's and boated 6. We picked up 24, 22, 18, 15, 10 and another shaker. All the fish taken with a Rack "blue berry muffin" spoon down 95 feet and 100 feet of chain over 120 - 140 feet of water.

The big lake was like a plate of glass both day's, absolutely great fishing conditions. Lot's of big marks in and around the bonnet as well as McFall's shoal.

Hope this helps and I can't wait for next Saturday. Bass are great fun to catch. Walleye are a sporting fish and fantastic table fair, but nothing beats the line screaming fight of big Chinook Salmon in deep water!!!

FISH ON!!!

I was out yesterday evening for a couple of hours around Mcfauls Shoall and only managed one around 5 lbs. Didn't make much.

Does anyone have any good ideas to manage the water fleas that are coating my line. I put a small split shot about 6 ft. ahead of the spoon and that seems to keep them of the spoons by my line still gets covered in them to the point I can't reel in a fish.

I only run 12 lb test and I've heard the heavier line helps. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yeah, those Flea's are a major pain in the A$$!!! Use thick line. I never used to use anything over 15lbs test as I prefer the feel/fight but the only way to go to help prevenmt thoses lttle line stoppin buggers is to up your test. I'm presently using 30Lbs. berkley big game and I picked up very little sea flea's during the two day's that I fished.

I highly recommend against using the "flea flicker" line that is available as it get's badly twisted and knotted. It's no good!

That's for the info. I think I'll re-spool with heavy line and give it a try.

Was out Sunday. Action was very slow. We had only 1 shaker for our efforts. Things seemed pretty slow for most boats. We packed it in shortly after noon. Don't know what ther afternoon bite was like.
