Anyone know what was burning this afternoon on the north shore of adolphus reach? House? Barn?

It was the house of a person I work with. She and her family lost everything. :-(

That is just terrible news Legacy but I am glad they are safe. Hopefully they had good insurance and they are able to recover from this.

Last I heard yesterday, they're awaiting news from insurance so thinking they'll be somewhat covered.

I understand that they suspect the fire started in a shed / barn that contained their 4 wheelers, tractors etc. It then destroyed the house.

A fund has been setup at the various Offices for them as they only had the clothes they evacuated with.

I couldn't say enough great things about the family...it's very sad and sure am glad no one was hurt.

Cheers

Thanks for the update, my fishing partners and I were hoping it was just an empty barn or something, not a house. I am glad to hear nobody was hurt. I was quite a big fire, we could see flames from where we were trolling on the water. We were worried so we called 911 to make sure it had been called in.

If you have any specific info on where I could send a donation please let me know. I am in the Ottawa area so would have to mail or email transfer a donation.

Thanks

JimW

Wow...thanks for all the replies and offers.

As far as I know, right now the collection is going around in our offices only. I work for the City and understand a lot of support has been given.

If I hear of anything in stores or a bank taking donations, I'll be sure to let everyone know. As well, I do know that her sons are very big into fishing. Maybe something can be setup as a donation for that and if interest, I'll see what I can arrange.

...what a great site and amazing members here. Thank you!

Cheers,

Paul

Paul...Thanks for keeping us posted (PM Sent)

No matter how big or how small, how elegant or how simple our homes are our Castle's and contain not only our worldly possessions but all of our personalities as well.
What a tremendous sense of loss to have that taken away in an instance! What makes this even more devasting is having it happen so close to the holiday season...

On that note, with kids involved I am sure Mom is thinking how xmas is going to work.

From what I have experienced the guys on this site are top notch ...just say the word.

I myself am heading to Costco and Bass Pro to do some xmas shopping for my family and would be delighted to add a little something if that helps.
