To counterbalance all those walleye reports in BOQ, I thought do a perch report as I go out every weekend for those beautiful critters. (to try to, if the "boss" lets me go  ) Being new to BOQ, I stink at Wally fishing and plus, those aggressive walleye cousins keep me awake!

I went out for the first time this season to Sherman's point, it was great to be on the ice after a long busy holiday - it was my 2 hour "me" holiday time! I moved around, fished in about 15-20 FOW, but only managed 3 perch and about 5 bites on a small Williams spoon + worm. I saw a few non-committed perch on my fishcam and even saw a small wally wander by!

I tried for walleye yesterday at Wagers....didn't see a damn walleye, but man there were at least 30 perch on the camera. They are wimps though...they don't hit anything unless it is dead and lying on the bottom. I managed to get one on a jigging rapala, and another on just a minnow head. Can't even catch perch effectively....i am starting to think I suck!!! lol

I was also hunting some walleye on New Year's Eve day right out in front of the the hay bay church boat launch. Marked some solid bands (I have a showdown unit) early in the morning. Around 9 am the perch started hitting - we got a few that were 9-10 inches.

Perch were only hitting the spoons if they were tipped with a minnow head. Good luck.
