Quinte Fishing

This will be my first time Ice fishing, just wanted to know what size manual auger i should buy ( like to fish walleye, and pike). I just moved to trenton and see lots of hut out on the bay, would that be a good spot for a newbie to start? If any one could give a lure to use that would be appreciated. Hopefully i can catch some good walleye and hooked on ice fishing.

Go with 8 inch min size for auger
Jigs use a buckshot , mr champ
Use gold for gold !!! Tipped with minnows
If ya can get a flasher they are worth there weight in gold
And navionics app very useful tool

In my opinion, the best way to learn ice fishing is to pay a guide for the day. They will teach you the ropes and give you advice and hopefully put you on a couple fish. This is how I got hooked and learned quinte the first time! For me it was worth the money to at least see how its done the right way for a day.

I agree with this too. I never did hire a guide but looking back at my early years of fishing Quinte it sure would of saved me a TON of time and countless skunked trips if I had just decided to pay a guide to learn the ropes on strategies, spots and equipment rigging. Just saying

look at the posts ...there is lots of info just read if you want info pm people .....some will give info freely some will not be patient walleye can be fussy ...and sometimes you can't keep them off I think 8 inch auger is okay buckshots , champs, cleos , there are many great lures but learn diffrent jigging techniques ...figure out what the walleye want .

agree get your self a guide and a flasher unit the guide will be able to teach you how to use it and put you on fish. i prefer pk spoons glow dot or firetiger tipped with a minnow i also change out the stock hooks for a mustad kvd short shank i think its s #2 on all my spoons
