If it comes up fast it is more than likely an aggressive eye and be ready to set the hook. If it comes up slowly it could be an eye you have to entice into biting. Jiggle the lure just above him when you see red, this way he is under you, if the mark is still green the fish could be on the edge of the cone and just curious and you have to entice him in. What I do is a few aggressive jigs to see if they come in further than small little jiggles to hopefully get him to bite, you might have to reel up a bit to keep him interested, worked a small eye last night for almost 10 min before he hit. If they still won’t hit try something new, smaller lure with a minnow head (if it’s a perch it will hit it), secret is change to suit what the fish wants, some days gold is a killer next day perch color. Do you have zoom, zooming in on the bottom makes a big difference. Everyone has their own way of getting a bite; you’ll get the hang of it soon. Good luck. Tim
