sorry for such a newbie question but why is the size of walleye i can keep? i am certain i can take 4 ( if I'm lucky to get that lol ) but what size in cm..

Check the MNR regs, as well it depends on whether you are fishing with a conservation or sport license. With a sport you can keep and possess four fish, conservation is only two. If i recall you can have no more than one fish larger than 24" or something like that....check MNR website

S - 4; not more than 1 greater than 63 cm (24.8 in.)
C - 2; not more than 1 greater than 63 cm (24.8 in.)

so one bigger than 63cm and the other 3 below .. Much appreciated.. not like I'm catching a huge walleye however i guess its a possibility and i do see some big fish on this forum.. What would you say is too big to consider keeping? whats a good eater i guess I'm asking.. cheers

Personally I rarely keep anything over the 5-6lb range. Although on Sat I did keep an 8lber being my personal best.

thanks guys.. ill update you wednesday on how i do. hopefully i catch a walleye. never caught/fished for one before and i must say I'm pretty excited lol

I don't take home anything over 5 lbs. I personally have no interest in eating a 5 lbs plus fish and like Chris, I would only keep a big fish if fatally wounded.

Similar opinion,

Let the big girls swim again. 4 to 4.5lbs is my general rule or less. Agreed with the bleeder opinion as well. Although that's not usually an issue or seldom happens. Never have even kept my pb, which was 12.8 lbs. Few photos and back down she went.

It all depends on what i catch i like wallys. Way safer to eat then that "chicken" you buy 6lb and under
