I will be making the 3 hour trek to Quinte for the first time in many years to try and get my 9 year old son his first walleye. I was thinking of Point Anne since I have fished it with some luck years ago. Just wondering if anyone had any input or ideas on any other locations to try. Trenton is closer but willing to drive further for a better chance of catching a walleye. We will be walking and dragging our gear so a shorter walk sounds good. Thanks for any help, if you don't want to post openly, PM's are fine.

You could try off of Bain Park in Trenton, it's been pretty consistant this year with some exceptional days. The fishinmagician has been plowing the way out to the red buoy which should make for a fairly easy walk.

Are you putting in a full day or are you thinking just morning or afternoon?

PS Welcome to the board.

Was thinking of making it out by 10 or 11 and fishing until after dark. Thanks for the welcome.

I would think about a different time. It is possible to catch them during mid day, but I have been on fire this year from 7am-10am and 230pm to 5pm. Just my experience, I am sure you can get into some perch to keep your son busy...

Goodluck

I was hoping he could catch a few perch to keep him interested during the day and with luck, catch a walleye in the evening.

Could anyone recommend a good bait shop that's open early near there, I will be there in the AM tomorrow. Never been, and coming from the K-W area. I'd rather spend my time fishing than looking for a place to buy bait

Also, anything else that may be helpful to ice my first BOQ 'eye and maybe some jumbos.

Anyone ever catch pike near there?

Thanks!

Protackle in Belleville opens at 5am. Just get off 401 at tweed exit and head a little north. Good count on minnows the

x 2 on Pro Tackle, only place I go regardless of where on BOQ I am fishing. Great staff and they all will make sure you get more minnows than you paid for. Great people.

I'm going there on Saturday and Sunday, but I'm staying in Trenton on Friday and was hoping to avoid the extra driving. But thanks for the advice none the less.
