Battle of the Bay Cancelled Due to Weather and snow conditions.

After a discussion with Dan we regret to inform you that this year’s Battle of the Bay be cancelled due to safety and snow conditions on the ice. After looking at the impending 15 cm of snow forecasted for Saturday and the already deep snow amounts on the ice (knee to waist deep in some locations) we decided it would too much for some, as well we no longer have use of the a few folding tables and the big cooking tent we have had in the past. There has been a rash of accidents on the 401 in the past few days and those travelling from afar in the conditions forecasted is an issue as well. Safety of the board members is a main concern in the decision. Thank you for all those that have offered to help and have made donations already, those funds will be forwarded to Pat.

Tim,

Thanks for first of all for starting to organize this great event, I fully support you cancelling the Battle of the Bay. Safety always trumps all, the recent weather and the information of more foul weather coming could be very dangerous to board members who were going to have to travel to this area. Tim and many other board members were willing to donate time, food, tents, prizes etc...wow I guess its true fisherman/women are good people. I hope I get to meet some of you on the hard water soon.

Thanks again to all those members who were willing to help out. If anyone wanted to still donate prizes or money to Belleville Cops, Kids fishing derby you can mail it to me or come and see me for a coffee, derby date Saturday June 14th, 2014 from 09:00 to noon at Victoria Park. address below

hey guys can it be rescheduled for a different weekend? Any chance it can be postponed instead of cancelled altogether? Such a great event.
