I have heard guys have been driving there vehicles from Point Anne barges across to Big Island?

Is this true? Is the ice good enough ect?, I am not a local anymore and don't have regular access to the ice conditions. Sure would be nice to save the distance and time having to drive all the way around.

Anyone have any info on the conditions?

Thanks!

D.

Before we had the warm spell and Jan thaw I drove out of Pt anne with my envoy and drove it nearly right across. At that time there was 17-18 ". I havent been on the ice in that area since.

Last weekend we were at Pt Anne and watched a car drive across the bay. later that day we took my buddies Ram out on the bay. Ice was at least 20 inches. But if you do, keep you eyes peeled for anything that looks strange. Don't drive into anyone's holes.
We also saw atv's with 4 people hauling out all of their equipment and shacks. These cannot be lite either.
Be safe

I saw at least 4 trucks at Trident Point this afternoon. There was least 15" of ice where I was fishing. Too bad the fish weren't on the bite and hopefully things turn around tomorrow.

Woah when and where was that Lunker? I got a small gmc Sonoma I was tempted to drive on ice but not sure how it would handle since it's on two wheel drive. Maybe ok if there isn't much snow?

From what I have gathered it seems to be accessible than, driving from point Anne barges across to the tower at big island. It certainly hasn't lost any ice since the reports ive read from Sunday.
