Condition big bay

Does anyone know how much ice is big bay I'm going tomorrow for my first ever icefish on the Bay

It all depends on where you are going on the Bay- still lots of ice in place anywhere from 12-20". I am heading to Big Island tomorrow morning.

course that was also last weekend- lots of snow on top in places too- hoping the snow would absorb any rain- may just be a little wetter out there than usual.

It's not the ice we have to worry about. There is still lots and it will be around for a while time yet. It's the snow, slush and water on top of the ice that is the problem now.

Do you guys think it's walkable?

I tried to check out the ice at Potter's around 5:30. I was wearing work boots and couldn't even get to the bay across the park never mind get to the ice. The slush was over my boots trying to get there. I could see the snow was saturated on the ice though. I would recommend snowshoes with tall rubber boots if you plan to try and get out.

There is 16+ inches of ice on big bay. There there is about 6-8" of slush and water on top. Sleds are making it through but everything is soaked.

If you think that you're going to find a high spot to sit on and get out of the slush I wouldn't place any bets on that either

Took us 1.5hrs to get a 1.3miles off the shore in a quad burrying it about 7 time then tried

Got out to big island this morning. The walk out was a little easier than heading back in. I had snowshoes on which really helped. Forget setting up a hut- the wind today was really terrible, and any of the anchors would have been submerged under at least 6"of water. There was in most places about 12' of slush. I watched a couple of people bury their sleds...the tracks left over on the way back were like small rivers- full of water. It was slow going. No bite today either, just a couple of jumbo perch. I am waiting for it freeze this week- and took firday off for just that reason.
