Two of my kids and I came up from Buffalo last weekend for the first time to BOQ. I had been reading the posts on the board for a few weeks prior and was excited to get there but very aware that fishing would not be easy.
We fished Wellers the first day and the very west end the second day. The first day we caught several small perch, one 2 lb eye and my daughter got a very nice pike. The second day was just plain awful as we got nothing at all between the three of us.
My daughter was very excited about the pike and while I wish we would have got a few more eyes it was a fun trip.
Here's the real story. In planning our trip I exchanged a few PM 's with folks on the board that were helpful in planning our trip. I ended up catching a ride out and fishing near the troll's owner for the first afternoon. He ended up helping my daughter get the pike out of the hole which may not have been so successful without him.
Our trip was great not because of the pike although that didn't hurt. The best part of our trip was meeting someone that went out of his way to help a visitor and showed my kids that there are great people in the world willing to help out with no expectation of anything in return.
You are fortunate to have people in your community like the fishin magician....he is a class act.
