The future of brown and rainbow trout stocking in eastern Lake Ontario and Bay of Quinte is in jeopardy, the MNR is considering discontinuing their stocking efforts in this area. I believe this could be the start of a lake wide plan to discontinue the stocking of non-native fish species into Lake Ontario.

We all need to come out and voice our concerns for the future of this fishery at the Zone 20 public meeting in Belleville on April 22nd. The decision to stop stocking this area has not yet been made so we need to speak up about this before it’s too late.
