Quinte Fishing

That's a song title from the Miramichi about salmon fishing and the title says it was all last week.

That's the story I got on Saturday afternoon talking to those who had been fishing the previous week - "Best fishing I've ever had" to quote a Hay Bay Camper.

He and a couple other boats were fishing last week and boated over 100 walleyes in Long Reach with bottom bouncers. All males between 17 and 22 inches - really nice fish.

Then some fishers found a school near Ram Island and everyone was netting fish after fish.

There I was - boat sitting on shore and a list of chores to do- Oh well, wait til next weekend....

The reports from Sunday were mixed, heard of one boat with seven, but the rest had ones and twos - the fish had moved again.

Also heard of some nice fish being caught up the Hay Bay Flats also - guess they're all over the place.

I can tell you where their NOT.........Fished Belleville area Sat morning with only one of the biggest sheepies I have ever caught or seen. Lastnight fished Pt. Ann then moved over to Trident and trolled bouncers all the way past Wagners farm with another big fat 0. We tried everything, trolling, jigging and even drop shotting..........getting frustrating. Need to find some "active" fish for Sunday........as of right now I hope to just get one let alone 4.......lol.
