Quinte Fishing

Our crew of 12 (Father's and Son's) held our 20th Annual Fishing Weekend this year on the Bay of Quinte. I want to send out a big thank you to all of those who had taken the time to post past fishing results which was very helpful in putting some nice sized Walleye's in our boats over the weekend. A special thanks to Tim (Tylercurt) for giving our boat some special text tips (ain't technology great!) All fish ranged from 2lbs-3.5lbs with the largest at just over 7lbs.

While our boat didn't take home the trophy this year we certainly were the major contributor to the Saturday fish fry with a couple of xtra days on the water. A 14.5lbs Sheepshead taking top honours! A big thanks to Kevin and the gang at Merland Park for a memorable weekend.

Here's how we did it:

The winds and rains kept most of the guys in and around the Cement Plant in Picton Bay with rental boats and the majority of our 15 Walleye were caught within that vicinity. Our boat ventured as far as Thompson's point. We concentrated our efforts 100 to 300 yards from shore trolling in 25-35FOW. The most successful bait of choice was double bladed worm harnesses, mostly white with red beads 2ft back of a 2oz bottom bouncer...we spread the outside lines off planner boards. I guestimate the rigs were running in and about the 15 to 20ft range as we dropped them to bottom at a standstill then began our troll at 1.5-2.2 MPH.
While we tried various baits including CC Shads, Walleye Divers and Erie Dearies the worm spinners (usually off the boards) produced the fish.
The fellas were also amazed at the variety of species caught, Pike ...the odd incidental Bass, several Sheepshead and even a Cisco which tipped the scales at just under 2lbs. This was a real stunner as we initially thought it was a whitefish.

All in all a great weekend, our 1st go at Bay of Quinte for this group and it looks like we'll be back for our 21st.

Thanks again to all the poster's on this forum...without these posts I am convinced our fish fry would have included hotdogs!!

That sounds like a great weekend for everyone and that Tylercurt guy... class act. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Good details on your setup, thanks for sharing.
