Good day all,
Just a quick report on my latest fishing trips for Salmon in Wicklow (Lakeport) and Port Hope. Went to Wicklow twice last week/past weekend and got a couple small shackers. Water was very cold, readying just under 44F at the surface. Fished anywhere between 60 to 100 FOW and marked very FEW fish at about 60 FOW. Both times were during evening hours with barely any winds (i have a smaller boat and must be carefull with waves).
Last evening, I went to Port Hope and was talking to a couple outfitters. Fish are "Already" starting to stage right at the harbour and was told to fish them in only 20 to 40 FOW (left of right of the entrance of the harbour). When I got on the water, there were about 10 fishing boats at those depths fishing. Seen a few folks catch fish but was no so lucky. I did mark quite a few fish but weather turned nasty and headed home around 8PM. Anyways, hope this helps. If you have any pointers, please dont hesitate to send me a PM, would appreciate it as i do not get out too often and still kinda new at Salmon fishing.
Lures/Rigs used During trips: Downriggers, green flashers and green flies, various spoons (michael Jackson, etc.) and plugs.
