I live in Ottawa and I'm wondering if the Salmon have started to run yet in the Ganny?

I know it may be a bit early but if anyone could save me a trip that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hose22....I live in Cobourg ,but will be in PH this week at some point and will check for you....likely a little early , but they should be staging soon, than again, seems a little cool lately maybe things will be a few weeks early. Going Brook Trout fishing in September, but have been contemplating going a little earlier due to some colder weather lately in the Bancroft and Algonquin area

They're definatly not there in numbers! Another week, or next good rain will likely be more steady.
Boats are trolling right at mouth of river and people also catching them off the lighthouse.

The temperature in the river will definatly need to come down a bit, before you see a real big run come through. It's like 68 degrees right now.

I was in Port Hope from Friday to Sunday. We saw someone catch one off the break wall late Saturday afternoon. Lots of people fishing from shore but the fish are still staging.
