Maybe Dan can make this a sticky

As of October 13 the Picton boat ramp will be closed while construction on and around the ramp takes place. The ramp will be closed until 2015.

So that leaves Glenora launch, mcfarlands and deseronto as most likely alternatives.

This may change. I'm pretty sure it has been deferred. I am at a meeting on Monday and will update then.

Edit: according to an article from the picton gazette construction has been delayed until dec 4... So it's quite possible the fall fishing will go off without a hitch.

Excellent! That would have hurt business in picton for sure.

I could see all the fishers booked into PIcton's accomodations cancelling and the city losing valuable dollars in trade. Not to mention the charters operating out of that ramp.

Hope the construction is deferred til ice up.

Please keep us updated on this - I usually make 2/3 trips Oct./Nov. staying in Picton 2 nights each trip - not interested in Picton if ramp is not available!

According to Picton county operations manager the ramp will stay open past October 13...

No word on if that means it will last for entire fall or what...

thanks for the update guys, I really appreciate the feedback but conflicting reports,
so yes closing but we still may have limited have access after October 13 ?
this is not good!!!! so much for picton harbour motel no point if you can not get boat in the water,
hopefully there will now be a "boat ramp closing special" at sunrise cottages? if I have to trailer I will stay somewhere with full service and beautiful accommodations

If it's not broke don't fix it! What are they planning to do? It's the best ramp around.Yes before May but we need that ramp till the bay freezes

The information I posted yesterday was not accurate. The ramp will remain open but all services including washrooms will be closed October 12th. Contact pparkinson@pecounty.on.ca if you want the correct info.

Everyone should send an email asking for the correct info just to let them know how much interest there is in a ramp closure at this time of year.
