I am new to the game. Was in Picton harbour several weeks ago, night fishing. Got two slot legal eyes.
I am hooked on the area but new to Walleye fishing and need any help I can on practice and locations.
I have a Lund Mr Pike (70hp) have never used a planer board before and have not done much trolling.
Looking for good info/sites where I can get info on best pratices.
? What kind of board ?
? How is it attached to the boat ?
? How far out ?
? How much line from board ?
? Trolling speed for flatlining ?
? How much line out for flatlining ?

Anything would be appreciated.

Troll through many of the messages on this board particularly from the regulars like Superdad, Hay Bay Larry, Mike, etc. and you will get scads of info on technique and locations. Also go back a year to research what ahppened last year at this time. Good luck.

That's the best synopsis yet. You can print that and take with you in the boat.

One thing to add- Get the 'Precision Trolling Book' to know where your lure is.

If you like the synopsis of information above, then you can do three things:

PM me any corrections or extra info I should include, and I'll edit the post above. I just added the launch ramp beta.

Make the post sticky.

Buy me a beer, eh? If it helps you catch a bigger and better walleye than you have ever before caught in your life, you might have to buy me a six-pack. Either that, or a fishing lure.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

[Hey, ya can't catch a fish unless yer line's in the water, right?]

You guys are the best.
Great responses, especially from "passthepitonspete", so much great information to get me on my way.

Hopefully I will see you guys on the water. I will be "green" guy that looks like he does not know s**t about fishing and boats.

I have already bought several good Mann's lures 20+ from Fishing World in Hamilton and will be visiting Bass Pro on Thursday to see what they have. (New Bass Pro store is less than 5 minutes from work, so I suppose I will be spending lotsa lunch times there).

I don't like being a pest, but need a bit more info.
?. As I said, I have a Lund Mr Pike with a 70hp. Don't think I can troll with this size motor. Gets down to about 1.5/2.0mph. Want to go out and buy a kicker, what size?.
?. Trolling speed?.

I bought the boat with a screwed up bow mount and will probably be buying a new one at Bass Pro this week. Any words of wisdom?, experience?.

Will probably be on the water this weekend trying out some of the tips.

Thanx Guys.

Dave

Nothing wrong with that speed :!: We are nailing them constantly at 2 mph +/- .5.

Or, if you're determined to go slower, grab a drift sock or two.
