I'm hoping to take my little guys trout fishing over the holidays. I usually go to a lake to the south of Bancroft but I have heard the lakes in this area are still open. I'm wondering if there is any truth to this or not. I also know a few lakes north of Bancroft and wondering if there is any ice up further. Obviously I will check very carefully if I go, but there's no sense dragging my boys that far if there is no ice anywhere.

I'm not looking for specific lakes, but any help if there is ice around or not would be appreciated.

Hey Fin,
What is the biggest lake you have been on for an idea of to expect up there.

We fished a pond near Kashwakamak Lake last Friday and there was 5.5 " of ice. Up north of Manooth there is ice as well. My buddy headed there, early, this morning.
